Under supervision of the City Engineer, the Engineering Aide serves in a supporting role by performing civil engineering duties and tasks, including drafting, in-the-field inspections of public infrastructure projects, materials testing, and surveying. Successfully discharging these duties requires operation of a city vehicle and specialized equipment related to job tasks. The Engineering Aide may lead and direct the work of survey parties performing preliminary surveys and layout work. The capability to operate electronic survey equipment for surveys and construction stake outs is an essential job function.
