Duties: Under general direction of the Principal Engineer of the Construction Branch, is responsible for directing the staff and consultants of the Salton Sea Project Headquarters (SSPH) in the administration and inspection of construction work for the Department at the Salton Sea. Desirable Qualifications: We are seeking a candidate with construction management experience and knowledge of construction methods, specifically water conveyance and heavy civil construction. Candidate should have knowledge of management of engineering teams on design and construction projects for public works. The ideal candidate will be experienced and skilled in engineering; be productive, hard-working, and effective both autonomously and as a member of a team to meet difficult goals; be able to represent herself/himself and the Salton Sea Project Headquarters to clients and stakeholders; have excellent writing and documenting skills; be detail and quality oriented; possess collaborative solution-oriented problem-solving skills; have the ability to teach others; and be able to manage multiple tasks and projects at once.
Special Requirements: This position is covered in the Political Reform Act and requires financial disclosure within 30 days of the first and last day physically worked in a covered position and annually by April 1st.
Will require travel via air and vehicle, which may involve driving a pick-up truck off road, usually on rugged terrain to and from job sites. Must possess a valid California driver's license to operate vehicles on public roadways.
Applicants must be able to travel on short notices including overnight lodging on some assignments and be willing to work irregular and extended hours during outages or emergencies.
Office address: 8700 Davis Rd, Niland, CA 92257. Work will be performed at the office starting in early 2021. Full time telework will be expected until that time.
