Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists to join the City of Kamloops’ Transportation team in a Permanent, Full-Time Transportation Planner position! This position is responsible for overseeing transit planning and operations, transportation-related sustainability initiatives, Active Transportation Planning and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) initiatives. Typical duties of this position include:
•    Liaises closely with other City divisions/departments and external agencies, including ICBC, BC Transit, School District No. 73, Thompson Rivers University, and the RCMP on transit and transportation issues, and acts as an internal consultant from time to time.
•    Provides guidance, coordinates and promotes TDM and Active Transportation initiatives. 
•    Administers contracts relating to transit. 
•    Responds to a variety of customer inquiries and requests.
•    Identifies and implements improvements and maintenance of transit exchanges and the transit infrastructure.
•    Markets and promotes all aspects of the Kamloops Transit System in partnership with BC Transit. 

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
1.    Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.
2.    Completion of a university degree in Urban Planning with a concentration in Transportation or Transit Planning.
3.    Minimum three years of experience in Transit Planning, working for a municipal government and dealing with external transit agencies.
