The Impact You’ll Make in this Role The person hired for Personal Safety Division (PSD) Global Quality Manager will be responsible for a key role on the division leadership team. This position will also be part of Safety and Industrial Business (SIBG) Quality leadership team. This position is responsible for driving a quality mindset throughout the division globally and broader 3M Safety and Industrial Business.
As a PSD Global Quality Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Leading Division product quality assurance activities in the areas of product development, commercialization and change management.
Developing product quality assurance strategies to enhance user safety, design understanding and manufacturing consistency and control.
Ensuring customer facing activities associated with new product qualification and commercialized product feedback are conducted in a manner that supports the quality brand image of solutions, products and services provided by the Division and ensures users personal safety.
Ensuring product portfolio maintains applicable product quality standards given internal product changes and external standard development and implementation. It includes interpreting the standards, bringing clarity to the cross functional teams on them and leading to ensure that the standards are met consistently.
Implementing customer focused quality strategies through areas and plants quality leaders globally.
Serving as the Division Management Representative for Quality Management.
Ensuring the Division Quality Operations operate within the SIBG Quality Management System (QMS) framework
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum of five (5) years combined Quality Engineering, Quality Management Systems, Six Sigma, Statistical Analysis and/or Design Control within a private, public, government, or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Minimum of three (3) years management experience in regulated business environment
Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Master’s degree or higher in a scientific or management discipline, and certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management (ASQ certification CQE, CQA, CQM)
Competent in quality management systems, knowledge and application of risk management strategies throughout product life cycle, manufacturing operations, communicating with regulators and government agencies
Experience in healthcare markets (NIOSH, ISO and/or FDA regulated)
Previous experience leading a large, dispersed team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven track record of producing results
Strong interpersonal skills
Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
