Assistant Professor of Research

• Conduct independent research, either as an individual or as part of a research team. Apply advanced scientific procedures, knowledge, and skills in the execution of research. Investigate fields of research that may serve as a research focus area in the future.  
• Lead and manage research teams on which the candidate is the PI. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the daily operation of the team. Responsible for maintaining the quality of research and ensuring the timely delivery of research results. Investigate possible collaboration with other researchers and research teams. 
• Responsible for the administrative and budgetary management of research projects on which the candidate is the PI. Responsibility includes compliance with University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures. Responsible for complying with all research and contractual obligations including technical and administrative requirements and restrictions.   
• Develop innovative research problem statements and research proposals and submit to LTRC and external grant/contract agencies. Initiate and develop contacts with grant/contract agencies and funding sources. Investigate opportunities for collaborating with other research groups to develop joint research proposals.
• Disseminate research results in journals, conference proceedings, and by means of presentations at local, national, and international conferences. 
• Supervise Graduate Research Assistants in the execution of their research and assist in their training. Assistance in training includes guidance in the research process, instruction and assistance in the execution of technical and analytical procedures required in the research, and help in documenting the results in a report or publication. 

Associate Professor of Research

• Conduct independent research, either as an individual or as part of a research team. Apply advanced scientific procedures, knowledge, and skills in the execution of research. Develop a research focus, build a research team, and develop a reputation as a leader in the chosen field of research.
• Lead and manage research teams. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the daily operation of the team as well as the supervision, training, and performance of team members. Responsible for maintaining the quality of research and ensuring the timely delivery of research results. Responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with other researchers and research teams.     
• Responsible for the administrative and budgetary management of research projects including compliance with University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures. Responsible for complying with all research and contractual obligations including technical and administrative requirements and restrictions.    
• Develop innovative research problem statements and research proposals and submit to LTRC and external grant/contract agencies. • Provide technical assistance to LTRC or DOTD on request. The requests typically range over a wide range of subject areas and require a response in a relatively short period of time.
