 The Director of Facilities Operation, Maintenance, and Engineering is responsible for managing and providing overall direction to staff who maintain, operate, and upgrade facilities at the NCI (National&#xa0;Cancer Institute) Frederick, including Government owned and leased, as well as contract leased,&#xa0;research laboratory, clinical laboratory, animal facility, cGMP (clinical Good Manufacturing Practices)&#xa0;development / production, and administrative space.

 Function as a central point of contact with the NCI Project Operations representatives (engineering and scientific programs) regarding strategy, planning and execution of facilities related projects

 Salary and Benefits 
 The expected hiring range for the position is $107,000&#8211;$110,000, with a full salary range of $89,678&#8211;$125,550, depending on qualifications. A 5% pay increase is provided upon successful completion of six months of service. The Twin Cities campus has a total electric utility budget of approximately $51M per year. The system includes more than twelve miles of underground steam tunnels and four high voltage (13,800 Volt) switch stations. The Utility Operations group manages and maintains this complex infrastructure, as well as overseeing storm water management, sanitary sewer systems, municipal water distribution, chilled water distribution, steam and condensate, and compressed air systems. 
 This position provides guidance on the proper operations and maintenance of campus medium and low voltage electrical distribution equipment, lighting, renewables, and emergency generators. Under the direction of Principal Electrical Engineer(s) and Assistant Director of Utilities Operations, it provides supervision of the Energy Management Electrical Utilities maintenance crews. It is responsible for oversight of the University&#8217;s medium voltage assets, protecting them to maintain safe and reliable facilities for teaching, research and outreach.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Bridge Testing&#xa0; 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Maintain a record of bridges that could potentially benefit from field-testing, long-term monitoring or Ultrasonic Impact Treatment (UIT). 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Review Bridge Testing Reports produced by the Bridge Testing group. 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Apply Live Load modification factors obtained through field testing where applicable. 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Make recommendations on repair/strengthening/replacement options based on test results. 
 Rolling Equipment&#xa0; 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Evaluate locomotives and rolling equipment of various weights and dimensions for their demand on the bridge plant. 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Make Recommendations related to operation of above equipment on specific subdivisions. 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Establish and advise regions on operating restrictions. 
 Safety&#xa0; 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Communicate company policy and goals to junior staff. 
 &#xb7;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;Provide mentoring, recognition and feedback as required.

 ?Engineering

 Education/Certification/Designation
