 Supervises and coordinates staff and consultants in the preparation of studies, plans, and designs for additions, modifications, and rehabilitations of Electric distribution, substation, and fiber facilities so that adequate facilities will be available to meet expected electric demands in conjunction with current ISO, LCRA, and ERCOT as required. 
 
 
 Responsible for research and analysis work related to the proliferation of distributed energy resources and distribution automation capabilities including solar, wind, storage, electric vehicles, conservation voltage reduction, automated circuit restoration, and other emerging technologies. 
 
 
 Responsible for providing engineering management and technical direction to the Engineering department for delivering safe, reliable cost-effective, and quality engineering for electric distribution projects. 
 
 
 Overall responsibility for the safe and successful design and installation of the electric distribution facilities required to serve new customers and improve the reliability and power quality of existing customers. Approves the design of distribution, and interconnection facilities to meet the electric systems ability to serve anticipated loads and operating requirements; directs the operation and maintenance of same; 
 
 
 Act as a subject-matter expert regarding electrical engineering activities such as distribution system design, and utility interconnection requirements. 
 
 
 Collaborate with Operations and Asset Management staff to ensure that designs capture operational experience and needs. 
 
 
 Lead or assist with investigations of electrical-related issues at operational projects, including root-cause analysis as needed. 
 
 
 Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members. Coaching and mentoring Engineering staff. 
 
 
 Serve as an interface between the Engineering group and internal clients including Construction, Operations, Economic Development, Procurement, Legal, and Finance.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 The  City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works department  is seeking a dynamic, outgoing, and visionary leader who is passionate about transportation to serve as the  Assistant Director of Regional Transportation and Innovation .&#xa0;&#xa0; As the City of Fort Worth&#8217;s primary liaison for transportation matters, new technologies and services, the successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate major strategic transportation initiatives to enhance mobility and coordination.&#xa0; The ideal candidate will have an understanding of State and Federal funding programs and related financial processes, contracts, and grants including but not limited to FHWA, FTA and other infrastructure related funding sources.&#xa0; Knowledge of TXDOT, NCTCOG, transit, bicycle and pedestrian initiatives is desired along with the ability to advance mobility concepts associated with automated vehicle deployment and various emerging technologies. &#xa0;The successful candidate will have the ability to manage the planning efforts of transportation projects as well as developing strategic relationships/partnerships with various county, state, regional and federal transportation agencies and the private sector.&#xa0; 
 This position will lead and perform advanced transportation planning work with minimal supervision. &#xa0;The responsibilities include preparation of grant applications; negotiation of agreements with private and public entities; and manage special program efforts undertaken by the City and various partner organizations.&#xa0; This will be a hands on leadership role, managing staff and executing critical functions. The selected candidate will enhance ties at local, state and national levels as it relates to the vision of the City while working with key decision makers, elected officials and other stakeholders to advance City mobility goals.&#xa0; 
 Preferred candidates will possess the following: 
 
 At least seven years of increasing responsibility in transportation. 
 Five or more years in transportation leadership roles 
 Success working with municipal, state, region and/or federal transportation stakeholders and the private sector. 
 Experience in project/program management, capital program planning, transportation infrastructure funding 
 Experience in identifying and developing viable funding to support transportation projects and program goals 
 Demonstrate leadership and proactive management of staff, projects, and programs 
 Success in working with elected officials and other key stakeholders to obtain common strategic objectives. 
 Demonstrate success in interpreting and developing transportation policies, legislation, and regulation. 
 Excellent public speaking, presentation, and analytical skills 
 Experience presenting to Boards, Chambers, Community Groups, governing bodies, committees, etc. 
 Minimum Qualifications: 
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, planning, public administration, business administration, project/program management or a related field. 
 Six years responsible administrative/management experience related to transportation/public works operations and/or planning, with four years of supervisory experience. 
 Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas Driver&#8217;s License. 
 
 Certifications: 
 
 Master&#8217;s Degree is a plus! 
 Not required, but preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of certifications
 
 AICP, PE, or EIT a plus
