 Location:  Oneida, TN 
 Fieldwork will be in National Park Service units in four southeastern states (KY, NC, TN and VA). These are large natural resource parks protecting some of the most significant ecosystems in the Southern Appalachians, including cliff-lined river gorges (Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Obed Wild and Scenic River), and montane forests (Blue Ridge Parkway).

 Living Allowance:  The ACE member will serve approximately 40 hours/week and receive a living allowance of $312.50/week for food, housing, and incidentals paid out biweekly. While traveling for projects, accommodations will include motels and park housing; reimbursable travel expenses are covered by the ACE.

 Position Description:  This is a twelve-month position with the NPS Appalachian Highlands Inventory and Monitoring Network (APHN) where the ACE member will serve as a member of a team that conducts field-oriented natural resources monitoring. Duties are mainly assisting with field data collection, data management and related laboratory testing for the Network&#39;s water quality monitoring program. Other duties may include assisting with freshwater mussel and vegetation monitoring. 
 Assist APHN staff with a variety of field-oriented projects, including: 
 
 Water quality monitoring. Duties may include assisting with operation and maintenance of data sondes used to collect continuous water quality data, as well as assisting with collection of discrete water quality samples; 
 Operation and maintenance of water quality meters, and laboratory instruments and equipment; 
 Entering and quality-checking continuous and discrete water quality monitoring data using Microsoft Access and Excel, and other proprietary database software; 
 Occasionally providing field and data management assistance for other long-term monitoring projects, including freshwater mussel and vegetation monitoring; 
 Entering data and species occurrence information (from legacy reports and collection records) in databases and spreadsheets, using Microsoft Access and Excel, and other proprietary database software; 
 Field operation and basic management of Global Positioning System (esp. Garmin) instruments and data; 
 Creating basic Geographic Information System maps (with ESRI&#39;s ArcGIS software) for natural resources inventory and monitoring projects; 
 Organizing and carrying out field logistics to support monitoring teams of two or more people.

 Training:  APHN will provide field training and experience using a variety of water quality monitoring instruments and techniques, as well as techniques for vegetation and freshwater mussel monitoring. Training and skills will be provided in data manipulation using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, ESRI ArcGIS software, as well as other proprietary software, including Aquatic Informatics&#39; Aquarius software, Garmin GPS software, and National Park Service natural resources inventory and monitoring databases. Training will be provided in Wilderness First Aid and Operational Leadership (a safety awareness course).

 Horseshoe Bend National Military Park tells the story of the Upper Creek people of Alabama, and the conflict with American settlers that resulted in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend on March 27, 1814. The park preserves the site of the last battle of the Creek Indian War of 1813-1814, where the US Army under General Andrew Jackson defeated the Creek Nation breaking the power of the southern tribes and opening the area for white settlement. 
 The park is located in Daviston, a fairly small town, but Auburn and Auburn University are less than an hour away.

 Position Description:  After habitat loss, invasive species are considered the greatest threat to global diversity. In this intensive field position, ACE Members will remove exotic trees, brush and weeds using chainsaws, power brush cutters, and hand tools such as axes, hatchets, machetes and handsaws. Members will safely handle, transport, mix and apply herbicides to non-native plants. Members will use GPS to locate and document sites and invasive plant populations. Horseshoe Bend NMP encompasses more than two thousand acres of river bottom and forest, and this position will provide opportunities to hike, canoe and survey the natural and culturally rich river, fields and forests of the park. 
 This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups. Members will potentially receive the following training: chainsaw and brushcutter use, herbicide safety and handling, truck, trailer, and UTV driving, hand tool use, canoe and water safety, equipment operation, small engine and equipment maintenance.  Congaree National Park protects the largest contiguous tract of old growth floodplain hardwood forest in the southeast. Its boundaries encompass approximately 27,000 acres, the majority of which is designated wilderness. In general, the climate is mild with very, very hot and humid summers. Columbia, the capital of South Carolina, is the closest city to the park and has a variety of entertainment opportunities. There are also many outdoor opportunities within a short drive of the city.

 The ACE Member will be a part of traveling team that will focus on invasive plant management at 13 parks in the Southeast Region. The team will visit several, not all, of these parks during the 32-week term.

 Performing distribution mapping of non-native plants using GPS (10%) 
 Assisting with additional resource management field, GIS, and data management projects (15%). 
 
 Because of the travel intensive nature of this position, we are looking for adaptable applicants willing to work in an environment requiring a lot of flexibility. At times our travel plans change suddenly due to unforeseen weather or training opportunities. Due to ongoing COVID-19 uncertainties, the ability to travel and work independently is required, and we ask for your flexibility as we shift plans to ensure the safety of the crew. 
 The crew will be manually removing exotic invasive vegetation in both urban and rural NPS sites. The team will live together while in travel status, so the ability to get along with others is vital. The housing accommodations will vary from rustic park housing to hotels, but while traveling camping will not be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
 Implement, support, and manage City compliance with the City&#8217;s Western Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit (MS4 Permit) program requirements, including preparing Annual Reports, Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) Plans and other documentation as needed to comply with the MS4 Permit conditions. 
 
 Identify, develop, implement, and manage all necessary City policies and activities needed for MS4 Permit compliance policies, including department training, record keeping, and code enforcement. 
 Develop, maintain, and communicate to City colleagues and the general public a current knowledge and understanding of MS4 Permit requirements and regulatory trends as necessary to function as a City subject matter expert. 
 Implement, coordinate, and maintain a system for tracking of all MS4 Permit requirements and the City of Mill Creek&#8217;s activities to comply with these conditions and requirements. This includes, but is not limited to: public education and outreach, public involvement and volunteer participation programs, illicit discharge detection and investigation, spill reporting, water quality test reporting controlling runoff from development/construction, and annual report preparation. 
 Maintain and manage the City implementation of an illicit discharge detection and elimination program. Develop and coordinate improvements to the program as needed.&#xa0; Implement and coordinate with City personnel and members of the public field identification and investigation of sources of pollutants entering stormwater utility systems.&#xa0; Educate property owners on the importance and types of pollution sources, conduct pollution source control inspections for local businesses, conduct and coordinate outfall screenings and other pollutant source-tracking, and assist with complaint investigations, correction methods, and/or code enforcement activities as needed to support elimination of pollutant sources through appropriate means.&#xa0; Communicate reliably and effectively with affected members of the public and monitor improvements to ensure effectiveness and sustainability. 
 Assist and support the City Spill Reporting program, including developing and coordinating spill reporting documentation and communication with the Department of Ecology and other agencies. Develop and maintain spill reporting education activities for City departments, outside franchises providing public services in the City, and the general public. 
 
 
 Implement and monitor water quality sampling and testing of surface waters and stormwater facilities as a part of the City on-going surface water monitoring programs.&#xa0; This includes developing and implementing protocols, field sampling activities, coordinating analytical laboratory testing, and creating and maintaining spreadsheets to analyze data and monitor trends.&#xa0; This includes regular data reporting to the Department of Ecology. 
 Perform and coordinate field inspections of public and private stormwater facilities. Maintain inspection records, and communicate inspection results with either City maintenance staff or private stormwater facility owners. 
 Prepare and maintain a tracking system for regular and responsive maintenance of City stormwater facilities as required by MS4 Permit compliance.&#xa0; Coordinate maintenance needs with the City Engineer and the Public Works Supervisor for the City&#8217;s operations and maintenance personnel.&#xa0; Assist and support the City Engineer in developing and managing additional outside contracts for surface water utility maintenance work. 
 Identify and tracking grant funding opportunities to support, maintain, and/or improve the City surface water utility and City surface water management programs. &#xa0;Assist in the preparation of grant application materials.&#xa0; Maintain and implement grant documentation and reporting requirements in coordination with the City Engineer and the City of Mill Creek Finance Department. 
 Conduct research and study new methods and applications related to surface water utility and/or surface water/drainage management; develop and present recommendations to City management based on best practices, field observations and technical expertise.&#xa0; 
 Assist with meetings with citizens and citizen groups, homeowners&#8217; associations and business associations as necessary to respond to inquiries, complaints and requests from property owners and the general public that related to surface water management subjects. 
 Assist the City Engineer in the development of sustainable standard operating procedures (SOPs), public and private development standards, and similar plans for City personnel when related to the surface water utility, surface water/drainage management, and/or MS4 Permit compliance. 
 Assist and support the City Engineer in reporting, both verbal and in writing, on surface water utility and/or MS4 Permit compliance subjects to City Council, the City Manager, the Director of Public Works and Planning Services, City Commissions, outside governmental and community organizations, and members of the general public as needed. 
 Assist in maintaining and improving the availability and accuracy of surface water utility and surface water management geographical data in the City&#8217;s geographic information system (GIS) database. 
 Participate, when availability allows, in surface water permittee coordinator meetings and other professional association networks; represent the City in external coordination groups. 
 Maintain public records of all activities in accordance with State and City laws, policies, and requirements.&#xa0; Assist and support, when necessary, the City&#8217;s response to public records requests pertaining to surface water utility and/or surface water/drainage management matters.&#xa0; Support confidentiality, respect, and professional courtesy for work-related issues, including but not limited to customer, employee, and City information and records.

 Position Description: &#xa0; The ACE member will assist the Park&#39;s Resource Management staff in accomplishing a variety of tasks.&#xa0; The member will spend the majority of their time in the field performing physically demanding tasks as assigned. Approximately 75 - 80% of the fieldwork will be Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) control; duties will also include exotic plant management and other invasive species work. 
 &#xa0; 
 This project is very physically demanding . In order to perform Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) control, the ACE member must be very comfortable navigating off trail in the backcountry using GPS. Backcountry camping in a team of two will be required.&#xa0; This treatment is performed off-trail and requires bushwhacking through rhododendron, mountain laurel, and greenbriar up-and-down steep slopes, crossing streams, carrying 2.5 gallon jugs of insecticide, measuring trees, applying chemical at the base of the tree, marking treated trees, and moving onto the next tree.&#xa0;The Member must be able to hike up to 8 miles a day carrying up to 40 lbs of gear in all weather conditions and in steep terrain. 
 &#xa0; 
 Another duty would be exotic plant control.&#xa0;Exotic plant control at CUGA is almost always accomplished by spraying herbicides.&#xa0;There are two primary methods of exotic plant control performed at CUGA.&#xa0;The first method involves foliar treatment with a backpack sprayer that carries two-three gallons of herbicide.&#xa0;Foliar spraying large areas of exotic plants requires members to carry this heavy load of herbicide, often in full sun, on slopes in difficult terrain.&#xa0;The second method requires cutting down shrubs and small trees with hand tools and then spraying the stumps with concentrated herbicide solution. 
 &#xa0; 
 The member will spend the remainder of their time performing other relevant tasks as assigned. Examples of other duties include bat monitoring, wildlife surveys, and ginseng surveys. 
 This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. The staff at CUGA is dedicated to providing members with diverse field experiences, while also providing guidance to develop professionalism and a solid understanding of the complexities of managing the resources of a National Historic Park. 
 Public Land Corps Hiring Authority:  Members serving under this agreement may be eligible for a hiring authority upon completion of their term of service. Eligible members must meet standard requirements of completing at least 640 hours and utilize their certificate before the age of 30.

The ideal candidate also has project management skills to handle projects of various sizes. You will be filling an essential role for the Jarvis Team! 
 Primary responsibilities are: 
 
 Support the Manufacturing team by identifying and working process improvements, the analysis of quality problems driving root cause and corrective action to prevent future issues 
 Calibrate and maintain test and measurement equipment and the calibration system. Ensure equipment is calibrated in a timely fashion. Resolve any out of calibration issues 
 
 
 Support ISO projects and compliance 
 Maintain and analyze manufacturing scrap 
 Perform product and process audits, resolve corrective actions and document control duties 
 Work closely with internal engineers, account managers and external customers 
 
 Basic Skills: 
 The primary skill is superior problem solving abilities. The individual must be able to design experiments, collect data, analyze data and implement improvements. DOE, Six Sigma and other statistical methods are essential skills. 
 This individual is responsible for the implementation of improvements. The implementation requires this individual to work with both our vendors and Jarvis personnel. Good communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills are required. 
 Technical Skills: 
 This individual should have experience in the following areas: 
 
 Calibration 
 Inspection 
 Statistics 
 Job Qualifications: 
 
 Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred 
 Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification 
 3 - 5 year quality or manufacturing experience 
 Excellent computer skills 
 Microsoft Office 
 Minitab 
 Must be neat and presentable 
 
 
 ISO 9000 experience preferred</description>
