								<description>Las Cruces , New Mexico,  The Department of Chemical &#38; Materials Engineering ( CHME ) at New Mexico State University ( NMSU ) is seeking a Department Head who can contribute to the strategic goal of R1 status in support of&#xa0; LEADS  2025, while ensuring curricular efficiencies and student success. S/he will strengthen the links between chemical engineers, the traditional sciences, and enhance interdisciplinary and collaborative research with other allied disciplines on campus. The faculty and staff in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering enjoy a great sense of community and are ready to welcome a visionary leader dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds are welcomed. 
 In addition to providing effective supervision of the faculty and staff, the Department Head is expected to represent the department across the college and develop strong relationships with industry representatives, the development office government sponsors, alumni, and the department&#8217;s advisory board.&#xa0; CHME &#xa0;seeks to grow programs, curricula, and research that emphasize technology development with a focus on energy, advanced materials, biomedicine, environmentally responsible processing, and brewing. This leadership position will help grow programs that prepare students for careers within these foci and build knowledge base related to materials, fuels, foods, biomass, chemicals, and human health. Candidates should have a strong background in a field that impacts new directions in chemical engineering. They can have degrees in chemical engineering, engineering, or in a discipline that has led to the candidate&#8217;s involvement in professional organizations with chemical engineering members, and a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree. 
 Qualified applicants for the position are expected to have a strong publication record in emerging fields, articulate a vision for growing the research enterprise, and build strong relationships with academic departments and research centers across campus, as well as external constituencies including alumni and corporations. Applicants must be committed to quality undergraduate and graduate education including mentoring. A successful candidate should possess an outstanding and demonstrable record of leadership, undergraduate and graduate teaching in engineering, student mentoring and advising, and a sustained and successful externally funded research program to warrant an appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure in the department. 								<description>Los Alamos, New Mexico,  Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) and the Bioenergy and Biome Science (B-11) groups at LANL are seeking a  Bioimaging Postdoc  to exploit new imaging methods using entangled photon pairs to monitor plant vitality and health. This is a large, multidisciplinary project involving experts in time-resolved imaging, quantum optics and plant biology.

 The successful candidate will collect and analyze plant images exploiting a new-label, free imaging method being developed by other members of this cross-disciplinary team. The successful candidate also will perform conventional biochemical and biological methods of monitoring water content and biomass accumulation in plants.

Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Provides engineering and project management support to the City&#8217;s construction programs, design, preparation of specifications, cost and schedule development, and technical support during installation and start-up, and overall project management. Conducts or participates in studies/evaluations and provide recommendations. Provides engineering support to the generation, transmission, distribution, gathering, and/or processing operations. Monitors sanitary sewers design review in compliance with City standards, rules and regulations. Develops and manages capital improvement projects. Performs wastewater engineering studies and assists with wastewater utility master plans. Collects and reviews water, wastewater and solid waste operational data to evaluate operational status and to recommend operational changes. Plans and directs field studies, measurements, observations, and tests in support of Public Utilities Department operations sections. Prepares engineering reports including design and cost analysis. Develops specifications for bid for equipment, materials, and services required for operation and maintenance of the City water, wastewater and solid waste systems. Performs design review of engineering plans for water, wastewater and solid waste facilities. Supervisory tasks within the division as assigned. Designs and/or approves plans and/or improvements for public utility extensions and related facilities. Determines service connection requirements, implements infrastructure management databases and the utility geographic information system. Assists in the development of water, wastewater and solid waste utility master plans. For Assignment in Public Works Engineering Division: Performs public works project development and management; acts as principal liaison between City, business community and public on public works engineering projects. Provides engineering designs for in-house projects consisting primarily of traffic signal, bike lanes, pedestrian safety countermeasures, ADA compliance, roadway lighting, and intersection safety improvements. Coordinates bidding and award of construction contracts; administers construction contracts, change orders, inspections, contract compliance, project closeout, and warranty inspection with follow-up remedial work.
