								<description>Starkville, Mississippi,  Department Profile: &#xa0; The Department of Agricultural &#38; Biological Engineering has 16 on-campus faculty and several adjunct/affiliate faculty off-campus within research centers and government agencies, engaged in teaching, research, and extension. The department is co-administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Bagley College of Engineering and offers undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) degrees in three distinct program areas: Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business. Within these programs, the department has approximately 450 undergraduates and 40 graduate students. The J. Charles Lee Agricultural and Biological Engineering Building includes more than 6,000 square feet of state-of-the-art instructional and research facilities, and includes separate labs for sterile tissue culture, biomechanical testing, environmental and agricultural simulation or modeling studies, electronic/robotic design fabrication and testing, fiber processing, GPS/GIS, renewable bio-energy, and student computing resources.  Position Function: &#xa0; The Department of Agricultural &#38; Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University invites applications for a tenure track, 9-month, assistant/associate professor position in agricultural and biological engineering focused on coastal issues including soil and water modeling and/or seafood quality and safety. This Position will have a split appointment with an expectation for roughly 50% research and 50% teaching. Applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching and be able to articulate a prospective research program that has promise for strong and sustainable external funding and national recognition. Candidates with experience and expertise in all areas of agricultural and biosystems engineering will be considered, but those with strengths in remote and proximal sensing, analytics including artificial intelligence, geographic information systems, and programming, particularly with a view to agriculture and natural resources, are preferred. Women, minorities, and other under-represented groups are highly encouraged to apply. Essential duties and responsibilities: &#xa0; Candidates will be expected to teach in the Biological Engineering (BE) and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business (AETB) curricula, conduct research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service. 
 Minimum Qualifications: &#xa0; Applicants must have a Ph.D. by time of appointment in Agricultural, Biological, or Biosystems Engineering, or equivalent in a closely related discipline, as well as excellent verbal and writing skills. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly production, and grantsmanship and should have the ability to conduct multi-disciplinary collaborative research. 
 Preferred Qualifications: &#xa0; Experience in coastal issues including soil and water modeling and/or seafood quality and safety.

The Department of Agricultural &#38; Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University invites applications for a tenure track, 12-month, assistant/associate professor position in agricultural and biological engineering focused on confined animal feeding operations, crop processing, and related structures. This Position will have a 100% Extension appointment. Applicants should be committed to excellence in Extension programming and informal teaching and be able to articulate a prospective applied research program that meets the needs of associated agricultural industries in Mississippi and the United States. Candidates with experience and expertise in all areas of agricultural and biosystems engineering and technology will be considered, but those with strengths in design of structures and environmental control systems, animal feeding operations (particularly poultry), crop-processing machinery and systems, and &#8220;precision technologies&#8221; including electronics, programming, artificial intelligence, sensing, and robotics are preferred.
