Performs detailed analyses for the transportation network using pertinent software applications such as FSUTMS (Cube Voyager), Highway Capacity Software, GIS and Synchro Studio.  Reviews and performs site impact analysis related to proposed developments' transportation impacts.  Applies standard analysis methods to process and analyze travel data. Prepares and reviews input data for transportation analysis software, including editing of transportation networks, land use data, and intersection geometry. Summarizes transportation analysis software output using mapping tools, reports, and tables. Compares analysis results with results of other related analyses and historical data. Assists in conducting transportation studies, including application of travel demand models, analysis and review results, interpretation and reporting of results, and development of conclusions and recommendations. Collects and organizes data on the functional, structural, and usage features of multi-modal transportation infrastructure, including such data as number of lanes, speeds, volumes by mode, travel statistics by mode, truck percentages, and peak hour factors. Communicates clearly, effectively, and tactfully, orally and in writing; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others. Skillfully reads, interprets and explains studies, plans, diagrams, graphs, and maps. Efficiently and timely handles multiple, concurrent projects. Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required. AA/EEO/M/F/VET PREF/DFWP *** APPLY ON-LINE ONLY AT: www.mymanatee.org Bachelor's degree in a field of engineering or science with applicability to transportation planning or traffic engineering, such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or Urban & Regional Planning.  Minimum of three years professional experience in transportation planning.  Prior experience with transportation impact analysis and planning/evaluation of long range transportation needs are highly desired.  Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.  Knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of transportation planning, traffic impact analysis, and travel demand modeling. Must be able to understand and prepare input data for simulation models, analyze model output, and clearly communicate results with technical audiences. Knowledge of general principles used in identifying and prioritizing multi-modal transportation needs, including operational and safety needs associated with specific projects and the adequate facilities needs associated with planning transportation networks. Familiarity with transportation requirements as implemented through the Florida Community Planning Act is desired. Skill in computer operations, including transportation systems and pertinent software applications, e.g., FSUTMS, Cube Voyager, TRANSCAD, SYNCHRO, CORSIM, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office, database design, and statistical analysis software.  Knowledge of socioeconomic factors involved in transportation and regional planning. Knowledge of statistical techniques and research methods used in transportation planning and traffic engineering. Knowledge of data collection techniques and field surveys, methods of data analysis, and the presentation of data and text in the preparation of reports.
