Basic Functions:
Oversees the company’s accounting function, and has accountability for all accounting records. Sets strategy and direction for the accounting team and interactions with support functions. Responsible for GAAP accounting and financial reporting, internal controls monitoring, data governance and financial reporting governance, and accounts payable. Evaluates and advises senior management and implements the impact of future GAAP, GASB and other regulatory standards. Regularly performs an analysis and evaluation of regulatory assets and liabilities, asset retirement obligations and reserves. Provides oversight of all accounting functions for AMPT subsidiary. Must value accuracy, consistency, and transparency. Must model commitment, accountability, and positive energy to produce high-quality results. Overall supervision of the team responsible for audit compliance, both internal and external.
Assists in cultivating enhanced accountability, transparency, and integrity of financial information, establishing sound financial policies and best practices, and instilling a culture of continuous improvement. Cultivates and maintains good relationships with members.
Essential Functions
1. Position has overall accountability for general ledger accounting, project accounting and all aspects of the department’s use of the ERP system. Responsible for ensuring AMP has unqualified opinions on external audits and reviews, and does not have material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in internal control. 2. Provides key input to financial planning and analysis group and identifies trends to assist in financial forecasts. 3. Maintains subject matter expertise on all regulatory assets and liabilities. Ensures appropriate treatment and documentation. 4. Leverages technology to streamline and automate critical functions. 5. Collaborates with enterprise risk management on the commodity hedging strategy. 6. Coordinates presentations for the Board of Trustees, assists with rating agency presentations, and responds to internal and external requests for information. 7. Monitors compliance with various debt covenants and advises senior management of any anticipated challenges with compliance. 8. Consistently demonstrates a commitment to fiscal accountability and financial stewardship. 9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s of Science in accounting or finance, or MBA. 2. CPA is desired. 3. Collaborative and strategic thinker with a strong financial leadership perspective. 4. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP and GASB preferred. 5. Exceptional problem analysis and resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level. 6. Action oriented individual who fosters open, honest, and timely two-way communications. 7. Displays an innovative approach that shows respect for others and increases value to members. 8. Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with members and external business partners. 9. Ability to proactively identify and communicate both positive and negative financial trends. 10. Open-minded, active listener who consistently displays composure, diplomacy and decisiveness. 11. Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant financial leadership management expertise. 12. Experience in the energy industry preferred. 13. Experience with ERP systems, financial modeling, budgets, financial analysis and reporting. 14. Must work together to achieve common goals and communicate in a clear and concise manner. 15. Excellent oral and written communication skills including one on one and presentation skills. 16. Must have proven expertise to anticipate and plan for unexpected issues. 17. Must possess the experience and skills to foresee and anticipate questions from members and senior management and to address questions quickly and diplomatically. 18. Must be skilled in prioritizing and assigning tasks, effectively delegating responsibilities, and in measuring performance. 19. Must be flexible and able to effectively work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment. 20. Performs other duties as assigned. 21. Occasional travel may be required.
