With minimal supervision, persons employed in this position are responsible to work with Laird Conectivity’s customers to support the integration of our wireless modules into their Linux-based systems, assisting / troubleshooting customers’ builds to solve any integration issues that arise. Specific focus on providing customer support for embedded Linux integration of Laird Connectivity Wi-Fi / Bluetooth combo modules, System-On-Module (SOM) portfolio, and Single-Board Computer (SBC) portfolio. This is a remote position from anywhere in the US.
Responsibilities
Responsible for working with Laird Connectivity’s OEM engineers, Distribution Partners and Territory Sales Managers to garner a comprehensive understanding of existing customers’ design requirements and support pre-sales activities to help qualify new and next generation customers.
Utilizing Laird Connectivity’s various product offerings, present detailed design solutions to customers’ engineering teams.
Regularly interface with Laird Connectivity’s customers to provide best-in-class technical support for implementation / integration of products & solutions.
Support technical inquiries and providing applications assistance to key Laird Connectivity customers, working synergistically with sales and engineering to achieve customer design-in targets.
Coordinate activities between departments to meet customer-specific (custom) product development requirements.
Simultaneously provide technical support for multiple customers’ throughout the various stages of their program development design cycles.
Keep work skills current to ensure Laird competitiveness in a dynamic global business environment.
May require occassional travel to customer sites providing design specific solutions and embedded Linux integration support.
Requirements
Excellent embedded Linux troubleshooting skills; Yocto, Buildroot, hardware, etc.
Ability to read / review customers’ schematics and provide recommendations for optimization.
Exhibit understanding of the cross-functional relationships between inter-company groups and the expertise required to support customers’ product development efforts. This spans from providing initial recommendations from Laird Connectivity’s existing product portfolio (or additional uncovering for customized solution requirements) through providing best-in-class technical support during all phases of the customers’ product development cycle.
Basic IP networking skills.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
Education & Experience Request
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technical field highly preferred or equivalent experience required.
Embedded Linux integration on ARM based MPUs required.
Experience/knowledge in Wi-Fi design integration required.
Experience with Yocto and/or Buildroot in embedded Linux required.
C programming experience preferred.
Experience with NXP and/or Infineon WI-Fi chipsets preferred.
3-5 years experience in a FAE, Support or development role.
