This position is non-exempt meaning you would be eligible to receive overtime pay at 1.5x your regular hourly rate if overtime hours are approved by your supervisor.

Under general supervision, performs technical traffic engineering functions and provides technical support relating to the City's traffic planning and engineering.
Maintains the City's computerized traffic signal system; modifies the system's programming. Prepares traffic signal timing charts and makes timing adjustments to signals; inspects traffic signals to ensure accurate operation.
Reviews traffic control plans and approves traffic control permits submitted by contractors. Calculates and collects associated fees for the appropriate permits and issues receipts. Prepares traffic control plans for private contractors and City-related construction. Inspects the work of contractors relating to traffic control system construction, traffic control signage and pavement markings.
Performs traffic engineering field studies; produces statistical reports related to traffic counts, signals and other traffic engineering applications.
Prepares summary reports of signal damage from accidents and vandalism. Maintains vehicular and pedestrian accident records. Updates annual vehicular volume maps.
Assists in developing City policies and procedures for traffic control system operations and planning. Responds to requests for information and assistance related to traffic, parking and safety.
Prepares layouts or approves submitted layouts of streetlights in subdivisions and on major arterial streets.
Investigates billing, operation, and performance of streetlight assets.
Assists with traffic control for annual events and emergency situations.
May be required to work after-hours for traffic related studies and incident management.
May perform installation and maintenance duties as needed.
May work a varying schedule and/or shift.
May be required to work overtime and holidays.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; two years' experience in temporary traffic control and work zone safety. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record.
