Responsible for providing strategic oversight for engineering for existing and proposed streetlight, distribution and transmission system facilities as well as civil design for substations and other special projects. Specific responsibilities include managing staff, coordinating with construction personnel, developing budgets for the department, program and procedure development, assisting with strategic planning for the division to meet schedules of customers and other governmental agencies, and development of department goals. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
- Provides strategic leadership to department management and oversees the effective supervision of staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, monitoring employee performance, ensuring staff members are trained and cross trained, resolving conflicts, and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.
- Develops and implements short- and long-term goals for area of assignment and assists with establishing strategic goals, long-term objectives and short-term priorities for the division.
- Recommends, develops, implements, and communicates policies, programs, and processes for area of assignment and interprets them in a manner that is fair and consistent with the document’s intent.
- Develops and monitors methods to protect the assets of the organization.
- Provides strategic oversight for multiple complex, cross-functional projects for area of assignment.
- Provides strategic oversight for all engineering activities concerning the review, design, work order preparations, scheduling of proposed and rebuild of existing transmission and distribution facilities operating at 345kV and below, up to, and including the meter to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, and
- At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in area of assignment, including supervisory experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

- Professional Engineer’s (PE) License preferred
