On any given day you'll:
- Design of traffic signal and coordinated signal systems.
- Traffic modeling, intersection capacity analysis and intersection design studies.
- Preparation of traffic studies, safety studies and other traffic related studies.
- Serve as Project Engineer for selected projects.
- Prepare and perform signal coordination and timing studies.
- Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related steps or processes.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or government regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Working knowledge of modern principles and practices of Traffic Engineering.
- Current licensure as a Professional Engineer in Illinois or have the ability to obtain the PE license within 6 months of hire.
- Must have hands-on experience with common Traffic Engineering software including; Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/Sim Traffic, and MicroStation.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- May require light work involving standing or walking in the field on occasion.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, walk, reach, crouch, bend, and walk or stand on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Constant hand, finger, and arm use
