The Department of Human Genetics at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) in collaboration with the Institute for Precision Health at UCLA (https://www.uclahealth.org/precision-health/default.cfm) is searching for a nationally recognized geneticist with the expertise and skills needed to be the founding Division Director of a newly formed Division of Medical Genetics within the Department of Human Genetics at UCLA (http://medschool.ucla.edu/human-genetics).
We are seeking a highly experienced clinician or clinician scientist who will develop and lead this Division, which is a core component of the Health System and School of Medicine strategy in Precision Health. This position offers a unique opportunity to build clinical genetics in a manner that articulates strongly with the Institute for Precision Health (https://www.uclahealth.org/precision-health/default.cfm) and the other clinical entities within the DGSOM and UCLA Health.

Individuals interested in this position should have a national/international reputation in the field of clinical genetics. Candidates must have an M.D. (or equivalent) or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent) and should preferably be board certified in Medical Genetics. The candidates must have a strong background in clinical, basic or translational research in human genetics-related research themes, a demonstrated commitment to teaching, a track record of extramural research funding, and publications consistent with this position. The selected candidate will lead all clinical, research and educational activities of the Division, which articulate with diverse programs ranging from a T32 in Medical Genetics, a Genetic Counseling Masters Program, to the California Center for Rare Diseases and Institute for Precision Health. The candidate should have a willingness to foster collaborative interactions between clinical and laboratory scientists, further build and participate in the clinical programs, and demonstrate a strong interest in the mentoring of junior faculty, fellows, and graduate students.

This will be a tenured faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience. The DGSOM, health system and the Institute for Precision Health have set aside resources including a distinguished endowed chair and philanthropic funds for building new clinical space and research infrastructure.
