Support the operation, maintenance and performance of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
This position will be responsible for the daily AMI system support and delivery of complete, accurate, and timely data to stakeholders. This involves all AMI infrastructure components from metering to network including software, firmware, reporting and data quality. This position is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving system performance and data quality issues. Position will support integration with other systems such as Meter Data Management System (MDMS), Customer Information System (CIS), Geographical Information System (GIS), and Outage Management System (OMS). Daily, monitor and analyze AMI network and meter performance. Coordinate with LPC staff in troubleshooting and optimizing AMI system performance. Review, analyze and resolve data integrity between AMI, MDMS and CIS. Review meter and network exceptions, events, alarms and determine root cause of issues using AMI and MDMS data. Perform asset management of meters and network. Work with AMI vendor to perform meter and network maintenance activities such as network adjustments, tuning, firmware management, maintenance. Update AMI Operations dashboard and performance metrics. Participate in vendor meetings focused on operational support. Be the primary point of contact with the AMI vendor for any trouble reporting issues. Support system integration and testing between AMI and other LPC systems. Troubleshoot RF issues and determine root cause of network performance issues. Program / configure network devices for deployment. Work with AMI Meter Shop and AMI Field Services teams to ensure inventory availability, AMI maintenance and repair work is executed and meets quality standards. Ensure network and meter assets are actively managed and systems updated with proper status. Provide support as needed to support the performance of the water AMI system. Work is generally performed about 90% in a standard office environment and about 10% in the field visiting and troubleshooting AMI collectors and repeaters. Requires light lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds), occasional pulling, pushing, bending/stooping, twisting, kneeling, squatting. Requires occasional walking (1/2 hour increments), standing (1 hour increments) and sitting (up to 3 hour increments). Requires frequent reaching, use of fingers, use of both hands, hearing, speaking, writing, and use of computer. May require occasional out-of-town and/or overnight travel. Requires occasional nontraditional work hours. Requires reading of documents and confidentiality of work.
Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or Engineering, or a closely related field and at least three years of technology experience, preferably in the support of wireless communication systems. Capability to quickly learn new software and ability to configure and program the AMI field equipment. Special Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency desirable.
