The Department of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business at Colorado State University invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The anticipated start date is August, 2023. Applicant must have (or expect to receive by the start of employment) a doctoral degree in Information Systems or a related field and demonstrated potential to publish in premier and high-quality scholarly journals. Preference will be given to candidates with an active research program; a record of premier and high-quality publications commensurate with experience; evidence of teaching effectiveness; and an ability or interest to teach cybersecurity, enterprise systems, analytics, or programming courses.

Preferred Job Qualifications: 

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• a record of high-quality research commensurate with experience;
• evidence of teaching effectiveness;
• teaching experience in any of the courses offered in our MCIS program; and
• interest in teaching in a MCIS distance Master’s degree program.

Essential Duties:

Teaching and Advising: Prepare and deliver CIS courses to graduate and undergraduate students. (Percentage Of Time: 40)

Conduct and Publish Research in the Field of Computer Information Systems: Publish in premier and high-quality scholarly journals in Information Systems or a related field. (Percentage Of Time: 50)

Service to Department, College, University and Discipline: Serve on committees at departmental, college, and university levels. Serve the discipline through activities such as committee membership on academic society committees and reviewing for journals and conferences. (Percentage Of Time: 10)

About the Department of Computer Information Systems:

The Department of Computer Information Systems has eleven full-time faculty and is one of five departments in the College of Business. The Department, founded in 1964, was one of the first CIS Departments in the country. Together, the Department and College provide excellent support for research including summer research programs and a dedicated lab for behavioral research. The College of Business at Colorado State University enrolls more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students in on-campus and online programs. The College was among the first to offer an AACSB accredited distance MBA degree. That program streams lectures of an on-campus cohort to about 900 off-campus students. The CIS department has approximately 150 students enrolled in its Master of Computer Information Systems program and provides the program to online learners using this same “lecture capture” delivery model.
