Job Purpose:

Responsible for package and process development and improvement, equipment, and material sourcing/qualification.

 Essential Functions:

• Manage package development requests from conception to commercialization.
• Follow a product development process using an engineering methodology.
• Acts as the Project Manager (“voice to the customer”).
• Publishes timelines using MS Project or equivalent discipline.
• Tracks project spending to ensure costs do not exceed the CAR, or funding budget.
• Holds kick-off, design review, project update meetings.
• Works closely with engineering peers and owns the design and package development.
• Uses SPC and can interpret run data (average, std. deviation, range, Cpk, Ppk, etc.).
• Creates CAD drawings used for customer specification and sign-off.
• Coordinates with the Customer, Plant, Lab, Quality & Sales team.
• Works closely with customer’s Package Engineer and holds customer project meetings.
• Conducts pilot mold reviews and makes recommendations prior to moving into production.
• Organizes and leads the design review and pre-qualification meetings. Completes a pre-qualification checklist.
• Working with Plant Quality, reviews specifications and provides product drawings and specifications to production team.
• Co-develops Quality control plan and reviews with the operations team.
• Participates in all sampling qualification runs and line trials.
• With the plant, Quality Manager, reviews qualification data and makes recommendations. The Plant Quality Manager submits customer waivers and obtains required approvals prior to production.
• Conducts post project review meetings.
• Assists with efficiency improvement programs (i.e. cycle improvement, light-weighting, downtime reduction, etc.).
• Assists with new material evaluations, process and mold development programs that create standard work (SOC).
• Assists with CSR and Sustainability programs (i.e. PCR implementation, Ecovadis information and documentation, etc.)

Additional Responsibilities:

• Research new materials, laminates, components, etc.
• Learn machine capabilities, restrictions, and key elements.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Physical:

• Must be able to work at computer for extended period of time
• Must be able to lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Mental:

• Must be detail-oriented.
• Attention to safety when working around production equipment.
• Resolves and/or escalates issues properly
• Ability & willingness to learn and adapt as needed

Technical:

• Must have a strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment for the industry.
• Computer skills – MS office, AutoCAD, Solid Works, ArtiosCAD
