Overview: The Operations Manager is a highly skilled, process thinking change agent who positively impacts culture and productivity through grass-roots leadership. This role is responsible for directly championing the continuous improvement of our operations, including all aspects of Safety, Quality, and Production.
Additionally, the Operations Manager is a key guide for the Supply Chain functions and acts as a partner with procurement experience. This unique, hybrid role is a critical piece of this small company and comes with significant responsibility and ambiguity.
Oversees all production of new and re-manufactured equipment, bearing responsibility for the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost of the operation
Responsible for the direct supervision of all plant personnel including direct shop employees, leads, and supervisors
Champions a safety-first culture and works to create any necessary processes and tools for utilization by all company personnel
Oversees all quality control processes throughout the fabrication life-cycle of the compressor unit, facilitating feedback for QC and design
Pursues excellence through company employees, and leads the production group with empathy, creativity, and a culture of open communication
Manages the implementation and launch of hybrid LEAN production processes that co-exists with the fast-paced, customer centric, engineered to order environment that is small horsepower gas compression
Works with business leaders and co-workers to implement and manage visual productivity boards that include Key Performance Indicators
Partners with the Supply Chain Manager to continuously improve inventory availability, accuracy, and turns
Works alongside organizational leadership on S&OP activities, often conversing with Sales and Engineering to expedite products, review designs, and execute customer expectations
Partners with all engineering and field personnel on designs, concerns, fabrication processes, etc. for all units
Participates in all project planning reviews and creates, in partnership with Engineering and Supply Chain, a feedback loop on all projects
Leads all formal and ad-hoc Ops/production meetings and facilitates the use of KPI data to drive decision making
Experience in leading change, specifically process or production improvement change via LEAN tools and programs to enhance productivity, quality, and safety
Experience in oil and gas compression packaging, or related field
Experience in quality engineering and defect analysis
Experience with both made-to-stock and made-to-order production environments
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is preferred
7+ years of continuous advancement through Quality, LEAN, Operations, production, fabrication, and Procurement roles desired
Experience in quality engineering and defect analysis desired
Comfortable with ambiguity and limited management direction
