A grant-supported postdoctoral position aimed at defining pathogenic mechanisms of pediatric disease is available immediately in the Steet lab within the JC Self Research Institute of the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC). The GGC is a non-profit clinical, diagnostic and research center whose mission is to advance diagnoses and treatment for children with rare genetic diseases. The Research Division is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, including a new aquaculture facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with clinical and molecular geneticists to better understand the genetic basis and molecular pathogenesis of inherited disorders.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in animal systems who can address complex questions regarding disease pathogenesis. Zebrafish experience and expertise with microscopy is preferred. As many of the projects involve models of Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation, experience in glycobiology is also helpful but not required. The successful candidate will use a combination of cell and animal systems in a highly collaborative environment to investigate disease mechanisms at a molecular and cellular level.
Applicants are expected to have a strong record of first author publications from their Ph.D. work, experience with molecular and cell biological techniques and skill in both written and verbal communication.
