This position exists to improve the safety of Minnesota’s Transportation Network for all users by reducing fatal and serious injury crashed. At MnDOT we will provide you with a lot of variety. Assist the State Traffic Safety Engineer, administer and track safety projects throughout the State of Minnesota,
Serve as a technical resource as it relates to the crash analysis and the Highway Safety Improvement Program, its implementation, and reporting requirements associated with this Core Federal program.
Perform a wide variety of tasks and has the ability to adjust and modify the position over time based on needs and suitability.
Serve as a technical resource as it relates to the Highway Safety Improvement Program, its implementation and project selection, and reporting requirements associated with this Federal program.
Various analysis techniques will be applied to quantify safety impacts in various capacities. This position will be responsible for conducting and managing this effort. There will be opportunities to represent the department on research projects and teaming arrangements as it relates to traffic safety.

Engineer Senior Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
Engineer 2 Graduate Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university AND two years post-graduation civil engineering work
A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university AND one year post-graduation civil engineering work.
Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
Required for both the Engineer Senior and Engineer 2 Graduate Levels:
Ability to review technical information and arrive at solutions to problems as they arise.
Ability to manage programs and projects.
Knowledge and application of business planning principals sufficient to develop and implement plans, programs and goals.
Technical writing skills sufficient to communicate highly technical information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to review technical information and recommend solutions to problems as they arise.
