TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING - The Civil & Environmental Engineering (CE/ENVE) Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Transportation Engineering with special emphasis in Sustainable Transportation Systems. Candidates with diverse research interests are encouraged to apply by demonstrating how their research supports planning, design, and operation of sustainable transportation systems. The position is available starting Fall 2020.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (a) teaching undergraduate classes and laboratories in civil engineering in general, and transportation engineering in particular, as well as graduate courses in area of specialization; (b) supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research; (c) developing and maintaining externally-funded research programs; (d) engaging in activities related to service in the form of student club advising, curriculum development, and shared governance.
Candidates for the position are required to have earned undergraduate and doctorate degrees in Civil Engineering or a closely related field by time of appointment. Experience in transportation planning/engineering, supported by a record of scholarly publications, is preferred. Professional registration, LEED certification, and industry/consulting experience are desirable. A commitment to innovation in undergraduate teaching and working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting is expected.

About Cal Poly State University
The Department has two separate B.S. degree programs with approximately 650 undergraduate students in the Civil Engineering Program and 200 in the Environmental Engineering Program. Both programs are ABET accredited. The Department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with approximately 60 active graduate students.
