What will you be doing?
Designing portions of projects using relevant office software, modeling, GIS, and CADD technology.
Completing calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizing computers in order to solve problems.
Preparing specification materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project.
Working with CADD Technicians in order to complete design details and plan sets.
Assisting in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
Completing traffic analysis tasks from field observation, inspection, data collection, reporting analysis and writing technical reports as directed by senior engineering staff.
Assisting in traffic modeling and capacity analysis using modeling technology.
Communicating with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.
Performing other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
Must possess a bachelor’s (B.S.) or master’s degree (M.S.) in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year or graduate engineering university. Master’s degree preferred with an emphasis or specialization in Traffic or Transportation, but not required.
0-2 plus years of related engineering experience is required. 1-2 years of related engineering experience is preferred.
Working knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.), CADD software and other engineering automation tools is required. Demonstrated experience with Traffic analysis software (Synchro/SimTraffic,VISSIM) is preferred.
Knowledge of DOT standards and procedures is desired.
Must have strong desire to work on traffic analysis and modeling projects. Other types of projects can include signal timing, signing, striping and signal design, construction traffic control, traffic impact studies, safety studies, corridor plans, operations analysis, multi modal studies, etc.
