DY Consultants, a highly diversified and full-service airport planning and engineering consulting firm operating in the U.S. and internationally, is currently seeking a CAD Designer at our NYC Office. The designer will be working in a fun and challenging environment, with a team of aviation engineers and planners. The team embraces diversity in people and opinions and encourages discussions and creative solutions. 

The major responsibilities of this position include producing airport and airspace drawings compliant with technical specifications. 

Job Requirements:

  • Proved proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011/2012/2015
  • Full proficiency in drafting 2D drawings (e.g. plan views, cross sections, profiles)
  • Ability to work with external references
  • Full proficiency in working with both model and paper space features
  • Full proficiency in working with plot style tables and plot setups
  • Full proficiency in utilizing map 3D features
  • Full proficiency in working with “Planning and Analysis” workspace (Tool-based Geospatial and Task-based Geospatial in previous versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Ability to work with ESRI shapefiles
  • Ability to work with AGIS Survey files


Other Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to take a deliverable from draft to submission
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office
  • Dependable and motivated individual
  • Strong attention to details
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work within a deadline and as a part of a team
  • Oversee the file management for project drawings
  • Establish CADD standards and monitor compliance
  • Provide guidance and direction to planners and other CADD drafters
  • Provide input on CADD needs with respect to equipment, hardware and software
  • IT support capabilities relevant to CAD


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS for AutoCAD, MicroStation, Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Familiarity with construction drawings
  • Background in airport related projects
