The process engineer charts a path of process excellence at Lannon Stone by both optimizing existing plants and designing / building new plants or portions of plants. The result of this person’s efforts will be world-class production facilities that deliver high-quality, low-cost products over the lifecycle of the operations.
Our ideal candidate will build and continuously develop deep knowledge of processing techniques and equipment. He/she seeks knowledge from Lannon Stone employees, industry experts, suppliers, and technical documents and literature. Since each mineral deposit and market is unique, he/she collaborates with sales, quality control, and operations to use this knowledge to create solutions for each situation and trains operators to understand the basic principles of each solution.

Analyze all quality control reports, and develop plans with staff to improve quality
Analyze all plant bottleneck reports, and develop plans with production staff to improve uptime
Compare actual plant production to modeled production, identifying and addressing variances
Develop plans with production staff to eliminate production capacity gaps
Coach, encourage and motivate plant operators to embrace a continuous improvement mindset
Design & Build
Lead redesign projects to address troublesome bottleneck and quality issues in existing plants
Lead detailed design of significant new plant projects
Train employees to operate and maintain new processing equipment and facilities

5+ years of plant design / operation / maintenance experience required
Proficient with at least one kind of plant design / modeling software

Physical and Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to frequently sit, crawl, climb, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift (100 lbs.). Must be able to understand issues, problems, and opportunities and make timely, sound decisions. This full-time position is split between office and field work, with exposure to manufacturing environments around industrial equipment. Environment will have extreme temperatures, strong odors, fuels, dust, grease, and other manufacturing features. Regular local travel within the Southeast Wisconsin area to assist foreman, team leads, and plant operators is expected weekly.
