The role of a Senior Structural Project Manager is to lead engineering teams on railway and transit projects. They will be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful structural projects such as bridges and other railroad infrastructure. The Senior Structural Project Manager will be responsible for managing the scope and integration of subconsultants and employees. It is expected that the Senior Structural Project Manager supports business development, client management and the development of proposals. Under general supervision, will plan, design, and direct structural engineering projects. Provides resources and schedules in response to specified completion dates and technical applications. Prepares proposals and cost estimates and evaluates all project progress and recommends changes, if needed, in final procedures.
Your Key Responsibilities
Manages multi-discipline projects completely, including the managing of client relationship and supporting new client development
Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating complex assignments independently, modification of established guidelines, and the initiation of new approaches
Makes independent decisions on work methods and procedures within the Transportation practice/structural specialization
Stays up to date on regulatory changes and may establish working relationships with regulatory officials
Exercises initiative in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual problem situations and resolve most conflicts
Provides technical assistance in resolving complex problems and decision making
Responsible for the review and sealing of projects
Responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access
Liaises with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals
Demonstrates sound judgement and initiative in the interpretation of policies and the planning and execution of projects
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Lead project management of complex multiple concurrent projects
Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Proficient in Microstation and/or AutoCAD and any other relevant design software
Possesses broad technical knowledge within the railroad practice and structure engineering sciences
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule
Ability to lead, participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others
Technical expert in all relevant areas of design and understanding of various design methods
Ability to make independent decisions on highly technical or complex work methods and procedures within railway practice/structural specialization
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field & Licensed Professional Engineer.
