The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a major agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation with a mission to ensure that America’s transportation system is the best in the world through its roles as Leaders for National Mobility, stewards for National Highway Programs, and as Innovators for a Better Future. To help fulfill this mission, the agency is seeking candidates for the executive leadership vacancy of the Director, Office of Legislative Affairs and Policy Communications position located in Washington, D.C.
As the Director, the incumbent oversees the coordination, development, and communication of national highway policy and legislation to further FHWA and U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) strategic goals. The incumbent also serves as FHWA’s liaison to Congress and representative to transportation industry stakeholders to address questions and concerns pertaining to highway policy. In addition, the incumbent provides guidance and advice to senior FHWA and U.S. DOT leadership, including proposing policy recommendations and preparing briefing materials.
