The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) invites applications for an anticipated Director to lead a newly established Biomedical Engineering program. As a dynamic and innovative leader, the new Director will set a new vision for the Biomedical Engineering program to advance education, enrollment management, expansion of research opportunities, and industrial partnerships. The successful candidate will have a solid record of accomplishments in terms of publications, externally funded research program, and engaging leadership. The Director will report to the Dean of the CEET and the appointment is expected to be made at the rank of Associate or Professor.
Position Description: This administrative, teaching, and scholarly appointment will begin July 1, 2019. The Director is responsible for leading and administering the baccalaureate program in Biomedical Engineering and executing and facilitating all program administrative, financial, and planning functions, including faculty and staff hiring and supervision, workload assignment, tenure and promotion evaluations, regular faculty and staff evaluations, and enforcement of university, college, and departmental policies and procedures. The successful applicant will also develop and enhance industrial contacts and initiatives, facilitate grant and contract activities, be an advocate for the department, oversee enrollment management, advise students, teach undergraduate or graduate courses as needed, and serve as a member of the senior leadership team of the college. In addition, this position will be responsible for establishing and executing a successful pathway to ABET accreditation. There are more than 70 students who currently seek emphasis in Biomedical engineering and this position will be critically responsive to the growing educational, project, and research needs of these students. Demonstrated commitment to equity and a successful working history with diversity is highly desirable.
Successful applicants for the Director position are required to hold a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, or a closely related field in engineering with related teaching interests and research experiences in, but not limited to, advanced biomedical sensors, advanced biomaterials, or advanced tissue. Excellent and proven leadership skills, with experience directing and managing faculty and staff in a collaborative and transparent manner is required. An understanding of, and involvement in, the ABET accreditation process is required. Academic qualifications for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor is required.
