General Duty Statement
Performs full-performance professional engineering in the design, operation and construction of streets, alleys, sewers, bridges, and other public works projects. Participates with higher-level engineers in the planning of municipal improvements. Acts as a chief inspector on large and complex projects. Prepares contracts and reports. Gathers required information for budget development. Represents the department at public meetings. Performs related work as assigned.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CURRENT OPENINGS:
Street Engineering Division: Applies engineering principles related to the design and construction of roadways. Provides plans and specifications for City, State, and Federal agencies and coordinates with Sewers, Signals, Lighting, Water, utility companies, neighborhood groups, business groups, Ramsey County, and other agencies.
Bridge Design/Construction Division: Applies engineering principles relating to the design and construction of bridges, public stairways, and retaining walls. Provides plans and specifications for City, State, and Federal agencies and coordinates with Sewers, Signals, Lighting, Water, utility companies, neighborhood groups, business groups, Ramsey County, and other agencies.
*Future openings may occur in other areas of Public Works such as Traffic (signals, lighting, and geometrics), Street Maintenance,and Sewer Design/Construction.

Assessment: Qualifications Rating

Eligible Lists: Eligible lists typically are created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately one year. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.
Final Selection Process: A Hiring Manager will consider applicants placed on the list of eligible candidates. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
Condition of Employment:This position will require licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer by date of appointment. Licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer within the State of Minnesota is required within six months of appointment. Must possess and maintain Licensure in the State of Minnesota as a Professional Civil Engineer, and four years of Civil Engineering experience, at least two years of which must be as a Civil Engineer II or equivalent.
Licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer is required by date of appointment. Licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer within the State of Minnesota is required within six months of appointment.
