About City of Burlington NC
Burlington, in Alamance County, is a thriving city of more than 51,000 residents. Situated along the I-40/I-85 Corridor, Burlington’s origin spun from the railroad but in the late 1880’s the textile industry spawned and the City eventually became the location for Burlington Industries and many other significant textile mills. In addition to education, health and government services, the City is home to companies such as LabCorp, Glen Raven, Kayser-Roth, Gold Toe, Sheetz Distribution Center, and world headquarters to jet engine manufacture Honda Aero, among others. Nestled between the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) to the East and the Triad (Greensboro/ High Point/Winston-Salem) to the West, Burlington has access to major metropolitan areas. With its temperate climate and close proximity to both the mountains of North Carolina and Atlantic Ocean beaches, Burlington provides residents the best of both worlds. In addition, Burlington offers its own recreational opportunities with award winning parks, access to rivers and trails and the Burlington Royals, a minor league baseball team.
