HUFFY CORPORATION, an iconic worldwide designer, marketer and distributor of bicycles and related products is expanding to include new strategic categories and product lines. Positioned within the new strategic initiatives, Huffy is coordinating the recruitment for an experienced Materials Engineer at our Miamisburg, OH location.
The Materials Engineer, Allite Inc. will be responsible for all technical aspects of Allite Inc’s material science offering. The position will convert theoretical knowledge into value creating features and benefits for the Allite customers. The position will work closely with our manufacturing plants as well as the marketing and sales team in supporting our customer base.
Lead practical application of magnesium alloys
Coordinate and conduct trials (prototype, early production, production)
Develop engineering screening tests to evaluate experimental or new formulations
Lead the execution of cross functional product development projects with local as well as overseas team.
Act as the team leader for customer specific development projects. Ensure on time and on point execution.
Convert theoretical knowledge into value creating features and benefits.
Resolve quality problems with suppliers and qualifying new parts.
Developing new specifications, introducing new alloys and processes. In addition, be responsible for failure analysis of extrusions and castings.
Initiate and coordinate material development projects with suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing locations
Deliver solid and comprehensive business recommendations through systematic and thorough analysis
Generate innovation roadmap for a specific industries and market segments
Master’s Degree in Material Science, Engineering or related field
Minimum of five years of experience in a fast-paced business environment. Preferably at least five years’ experience within material engineering company or research institution
Experience working as a liaison between raw material provider, manufacturing plant and customer is preferred
Must possess the technical expertise and corporation mindset to successfully collaborate with suppliers, customers and internal material science team
Strong project management skills include acting as the leader with the ability to influence a cross-functional team and stakeholders
In-depth understanding of metallurgical aspects of magnesium alloys
Extensive experience with Magnesium extrusion design and construction, metal fabrication techniques and post processing
Experience with resolving quality problems with suppliers and qualifying new parts
Experience working with an international, multicultural customer base
Valid driver’s license and will travel approximately 20% internationally as well as domestically (Must be able to obtain a valid passport for international travel)
