Amec Foster Wheeler (Quarry Park, Calgary) is seeking two permanent Intermediate or Senior (CAD) Drafters / Designers to support a rapidly-growing design team. Qualified candidates will bring a minimum of 5 years experience in Civil Water and /or Municipal Infrastructure Projects. Ideal candidates will be energetic, self-motivated professionals with leadership potential, and experience in preparing construction drawings for civil projects using the latest version of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
The successful candidate will work in a collaborative team environment where experienced senior staff are supported by intermediate and junior technical staff. Suitable candidates will interface and collaborate directly with professionals, prepare designs and be proactive in pointing out potential design issues. Intermediate and Senior staff are expected to be self-starters with solid communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to grow the business and support the development of younger staff.
Preparation of report figures and construction drawings as discussed with Project Engineers
Development of 3D models using the latest version of AutoCAD Civil 3D
Adhere to company and client CAD Standards and Procedures
Support workload planning and assist in the ongoing mentoring and development of less senior Designers
Skills / Qualifications
Engineering Design & Drafting Technology diploma from a recognized community college
Minimum of 5 years experience supporting Civil Water projects (i.e., ponds, ditches, dams, spillways, concrete structures) and / or Municipal Infrastructure projects (i.e., roads, grading, buried utilities, site servicing)
Familiarity with City of Calgary design standards and development permit applications is preferred
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and communicate potential timing delays
Strong communication skills (written and spoken) with the ability to follow directions and communicate effectively in a team environment
