Description of Duties: The Civil Engineer I designs, surveys, stakes and performs construction inspection for a variety of construction projects undertaken by the City. Work includes street and utility projects along with storm water management projects. Position works closely with Engineering Division staff, contractors and the Street Division during construction, serving as the on-site engineer or resident project representative.
Qualifications: Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering required. Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE) and / or certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in the state of Wisconsin or the ability to obtain within (6) six months from the beginning of employment required. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license is required. Strong background with the use of computers and technology in general. Experience with CADD and Civil Engineering design software, preferably Microstation and GeoPak. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written format.
