The position's primary responsibility is to implement construction projects in the interest of completing the Eagle Valley Trail, a paved 63 mile trail network that will connect the communities of the Eagle River Valley in Eagle County, Colorado. Eagle County is the home of the Vail and Beaver Creek resort areas and residents live and work in communities along the Eagle River. The trail system intent is to serve residents and visitors as a transportation and recreation facility.
The position will be immediately responsible for implementation of a 7-mile long trail project due to start construction in April 2017 using local and state funding and working with a variety of partners and permit requirements. Experience in construction and project management is critical. The position also will staff a citizen trail committee, develop budgets, work with other staff on outreach,events, grants and trails maintenance program, but the focus is primarily planning and construction.
Six additional trail segments are in development at this time, with work remaining to complete right of way negotiations, design and permits documents, and develop grant funding to augment the local funding source, followed by construction management responsibilities. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required in any of the following or related field: planning, engineering, construction, landscape architecture or facilities management.
Eight years of progressively responsible experience in leadership, building teams, goal setting, engineering, construction, public works, project management, facilities management, land use planning, bicycle and pedestrian facilities planning that includes large capital projects or an equivalent combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record
