An outstanding opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to become part of our team based in Saskatoon, SK. Reporting to the Vice President Projects, this is an exciting opportunity to set direction for the sub-function and provides leadership to manage and lead the Selection and Definition phases of a Major Capital Project and Program to deliver the approved business objectives, through an optimised project investment case, and to identify and manage project related Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) risk.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility.
Provide leadership and decision making to determine and optimise competing objectives and ensure successful development of a project and program of projects.
Establish, maintain and govern project development strategy, standards, processes, systems and plans for a project\program of major capital projects that ensure all valid investment alternatives are identified and optimised to realise maximum value to the business.
Manage key internal and external development stakeholders, including; Business Leadership Team, Project Steering Committee, governance groups, joint venture partners, and commercial partners as appropriate.
Drive the performance of project development performed by 3rd parties within the program.
Maintain oversight to ensure that project development studies are executed in compliance with both internal and external governance processes and Group Level Documents performance requirements. Establish, maintain and govern standards for value optimization, value improvement practices, tools & processes for the development program scope.
Establish, maintain and govern risk and quality management plans to assure effective management of the development program’s scope of work.
Evaluate key learnings, industry leading practice and innovations in project development to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Lead in the identification of programmatic\project opportunities for capital efficiency and productivity improvements for the project\program of major capital projects.
Establish, maintain and govern an effective and ODP compliant project development organisation.
Establish, maintain and govern capability development plans to ensure appropriately skilled project development resources matched to underlying program scope.
Collaborate with Program Directors and Heads of Functions and Projects Functions to implement Program Management strategies and initiatives.
Collaborate with other Functional leadership to ensure effective functional input into the development of a projects\program of major capital projects. Interface with Business & Group business planning cycle.
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a major in Civil, Mining, Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
A minimum of 10 years of global project engineering experience and leadership with a track record of demonstrated project development leadership
Superior knowledge and experience of global mine operations and minerals project developments
Superior interpersonal skills to interact and influence multidisciplinary engineering and industry consultants and stakeholders
A broad international professional and technical network
Track record and reputation in effective and innovative management of potash or other mining operations
