We are looking for an Assistant Plant Manager for our manufacturing plant in Athens, GA. The Assistant Plant Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager to attain operational and strategic objectives for the Athens manufacturing operation. This position will interact with and manage various functional positions to ensure proper workflow throughout the plant while focusing on the safety, ACE, quality, cost, and productivity to meet customer requirements.
* Continually develop and maintain a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible workplace by addressing all physical, systemic, and behavioral issues while ensuring compliance with governmental and UTC policies. * Accelerate and successfully achieve ACE Gold while applying Lean manufacturing principles. * Participate in developing plant operating annual budgets and monthly forecasts. Work with departments to achieve targets and proactively adjust according to volume requirements. * Coordinate activities between departments promoting a collaborative environment to ensure the best business decisions are fostered to meet or exceeding customer expectations. * Continue developing and implement an overall production and manufacturing strategy. * Achieve plant metrics relative to safety, costs, product quality, productivity, and process improvement. * Promote the control of manufacturing processes according to approved methods, quality, and cost standards. Develop, analyze and review a variety of leading/ lagging indicators to improve safety, quality, employee engagement, and cost implementing changes as required, to maximize results. * Support the development and implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning system supporting the business and manufacturing operations. * Build and maintain local contacts supporting the community in which we operate.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in engineering or operations management with 10+ years of related manufacturing leadership experience or Masters degree with 7+ years of related experience. Strong leader that can motivate and empower the team with an affinity towards employee development. Ability to motivate, communicate and lead continuous improvement activities delivering safety, quality and productivity. Proficient in practical lean manufacturing and problem solving techniques (Six Sigma, Toyota Production Systems or similar). Results driven with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a high performance manufacturing environment with an unwavering ethical commitment. Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with excellent attention to detail. Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels. Excellent analytical, planning, administrative and follow-up/ follow through skills. Proven ability to apply business principles and practices effectively driving metric and business performance improvements.
