The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track Geotechnical Engineering faculty position at the assistant professor level. The start date for this appointment is anticipated to be Fall of 2018.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; developing and sustaining an independent, extramurally sponsored, research program; and provide service to the undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the College of Engineering, and LSU.
LSU is designated as the Flagship University in the state of Louisiana, has a total enrollment of more than 30,000 students, and is the only public university in the state to be designated a Carnegie Research I University. The LSU College of Engineering has experienced significant enrollment increases in recent years and is in the midst of a $110 million facilities renovation that will be concluded in Summer of 2018. Required Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, at the time of appointment, or related area of engineering and research expertise in the area of geotechnical engineering. In addition, applicants should possess the personal and professional qualities to achieve excellence in teaching and advising at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants should have the necessary qualifications for professional registration and are expected to become registered professional engineers within the pre-tenure period of their appointment.
