Under general supervision, the Lead Graphic Designer is responsible for overseeing the creative process and design projects in the department; supervising three graphic designers, creating innovative designs used in the production of print and digital marketing materials, collateral and campaigns while adhering to Agency brand standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Art or related field and a minimum of four (4) years' graphic design experience designing and producing print and digital materials and working with print vendors or, an equivalent combination of education and years of relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Arizona Driver's License

•This individual will be the creative lead at Valley Metro's in-house Marketing team, working with other graphic designers, marketing coordinators, traffic coordinator, web developers, internal clients, stakeholders, print vendors and marketing manager to create a vision, maintain brand consistency and develop creative concepts and campaigns. •Leads junior graphic designers to develop and design visual communication materials that support the Valley Metro brand and agency initiatives. •Conceptualizes and develops innovative designs that achieve project objectives, attract target audiences and maintain brand consistency. •Leads assigned graphic design creative processes by brainstorming with other team members, contributing to the development of strategies and communications plans, presenting well-developed and strategic creative solutions to meet project objectives to internal and external clients and meeting project deadlines. •Communicates effectively and collaborates strategically in a cross-functional team environment consisting of writers, designers, web developers and marketing staff as well as other internal and external stakeholders. •Ensures a high level of creativity and style consistency in all work produced. •Manages multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and displays flexibility through multiple revisions and changing priorities bringing projects in on time and on budget. •Designs and produces brochures, flyers, posters, advertisements, and digital marketing assets for internal and external clients from conception to completion, which includes: leading brainstorming meetings; selecting colors; selecting fonts; downloading and correcting color images; designing and creating comps; proofreading; selecting paper stock; pre-flighting and transferring files to printer via CDs, FTP sites, or e-mail for print production. •Produces and edits maps, schedules, and graphics for bus books; designs and produces front and back covers and advertisements for bus books. •Designs and produces display boards for internal client meetings and for external outreach events, which includes printing to plotter, cutting prints, trimming foam core boards, and mounting prints to foam core boards. •Designs and produces presentations for internal and external client meetings and outreach education events, which includes preparing artwork, and researching and developing informational and entertaining approaches to interest audiences and to reach specific markets. •Develop relationships with print vendors, ad agencies, consultants and media contacts and work directly with them on projects, confirm specifications, confirm file requirements, trouble shooting, quality assurance, conduct press checks and negotiate make-goods with vendors when projects specs were not met.

Knowledge and Skills:
•Current design trends/innovations; •Aesthetics and possesses a strong aesthetic sense; •Methods, materials, techniques, and equipment employed in graphic arts; •Graphic design principles, practices, and methods; •Graphic software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); •Print material options and durability within applicable environments; •Print production processes, press checks and industry: •Typography; •Color theory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, driving, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
