Candidates must have a PhD in mechanical or chemical or materials/polymer engineering, or a related discipline, by date of appointment or shortly thereafter. The ideal candidate will demonstrate research excellence in polymer foam processing or processing-structure-property relationships of nano-composite foams. The successful applicant must complement and strengthen the overall capacity for research and teaching of several current faculty members (https://www.mie.utoronto.ca/mie/faculty) in the Department. Any background experience with polymer blending or the compounding of nanomaterials will be an advantage. It is preferred that candidates have an undergraduate degree in engineering and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer.
The successful candidate will be involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and departmental service. Evidence of excellence in research and teaching is required.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in research as evidenced primarily by the quality of published papers in top-ranked and field relevant journals, or a research pipeline that is at high international levels, the submitted research statement, participation in top conferences, presenting research at other prominent venues, other noteworthy activities in engineering that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, strong letters of reference from referees of high standing, and other documents submitted for review.
Excellence in teaching may be demonstrated by a strong statement of teaching philosophy, excellent teaching evaluations and demonstrated superior performance in other teaching related activities, including performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, or experience leading successful workshops or seminars,strong endorsements from referees, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
