We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the development and production of monopropellant and bipropellant rocket engines.
In this role, you will work closely with our program office, as well as customers and meet their needs by leading the engineering aspects of planning, design, analyses, development, qualification, and production of chemical propulsion thrusters. Typical duties:
Coordinating activities with internal organizations such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test.
Lead engineering support for the production of high-performance monopropellant and/or bipropellant rocket engines. This includes requirements management, anomaly resolution, and anomaly prevention.
Plan, conduct, and analyze data from engine hot fire tests.
Support component development and qualification, including supplier oversight and management.
Provide hardware fabrication support, including nonconformance resolution.
Present results at internal and external meetings.
Conduct performance, fluid dynamics and other engineering analysis as required in support of trade studies and programs.
Support proposal activities and manage internal research and development efforts, as necessary.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, and a minimum five (5) years of experience in liquid propulsion, either at the thruster or propulsion system level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience leading technical teams is a plus. Experience with rocket engine technology development is preferred. An advanced degree is strongly preferred. Excellent written and verbal skills, and experience working in a team environment, are required. A solid knowledge of the applicable engineering principles, business practices, and experience working directly with hardware in the aerospace industry is highly desirable. Some travel is required within the United States to Aerojet Rocketdyne’s customers and suppliers, as needed.
