Provide foundation design and analysis for the transmission and substation system with regard to reliability, material adequacy, inspection technologies and addition or replacement of facilities.
Design foundations for transmission and substation structures. This includes producing the required drawings to be able to order material and install the foundations.
Prepare economic analyses to evaluate one foundation design methodology over another.
Make presentations (written or oral) to management and others on pertinent issues.
Serve as a department representative on task forces, committee, and cross-functional teams. Develop and maintain standards and material specifications with respect to foundation design procedures.
Provide recommended construction procedures and practices for foundation installations depending on site conditions.
Perform field evaluation of foundation installations and troubleshoot as required.
Research new products that can be used for foundation augmentation and/or anchoring.
Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, purchasing agents, vendors and management regarding foundation inspection, reliability, rehabilitation, and R&D issues.
Coordinate foundation material testing and failure analysis.
Evaluate, recommend, and procure necessary specialized equipment and materials to mitigate corrosion, decay, and premature failure of structure foundations.
Recommend and/or coordinate research and development (R&D) projects including preparing requests for proposal (RFP) and budget proposals, evaluating contractor bids, and review contract terms and conditions.
Senior Engineer is expected to be proficient in the above duties and train others. Staff Engineer is expected to be proficient in the above duties, train others, take a lead role in department functions, and assist in the direction of strategic policy for the department.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from accredited college or university. Civil Engineering preferred.
Sr. Engineer – Requires a minimum of five (5) years of Foundation Analysis and Design experience preferably for transmission line or substation structures.
Staff Engineer – Requires a minimum of eight (8) years of Foundation Analysis and Design experience preferably for transmission line or substation structures.
A M.S. in Civil Engineering may be substituted for one year of experience.
A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering may be substituted for up to an additional year of experience.

Requires a Professional Engineer’s License in the State of Texas or another state and actively pursuing registration in the state of Texas.
