RSG is seeking a Transportation Planner/Engineer to join our growing Transportation Planning and Engineering Practice in our Salt Lake City, Utah office.
AS A TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER
You are a Civil & Environmental Engineer or a Transportation Planning professional. You work with fellow RSG transportation planning and engineering staff on project responsibilities including traffic impact analysis, microsimulation modeling, and traffic signal operations. You are skilled at modeling traffic operations, working with GIS software, analyzing data and writing reports.
As a member the Transportation Planning and Engineering Practice, you have knowledge of fundamental transportation engineering concepts and references (e.g. Highway Capacity Manual, Trip Generation, Parking Generation, AASHTO Green Book, etc.) and you are excited to apply innovative transportation planning approaches. You appreciate multimodal and land use solutions to transportation problems. You can work in a team environment and have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills that enable you to create and communicate complex technical materials . You are a resourceful and creative thinker, dedicated to producing thorough and accurate work.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL
Bachelor’s Degree in planning, engineering, or related field
3 or more years of experience working on transportation planning and/or transportation engineering projects
Experience using traffic analysis and modeling packages such as Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, and Cube
Solid proficiency with GIS (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
Ability to communicate in a variety of written formats and styles (e.g. email, technical documentation, progress updates, instructions, recommendations, reports and presentations)
Effective in a variety of presentation settings: one-to-one, small and large groups, with peers, supervisors and clients
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS ARE DESIRABLE
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in planning, engineering, or related field
Professional Engineer’s license and/or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads
Software development for managing and analyzing large data sets
Demonstrated ability to work virtually with geographically dispersed teammates
