RSG is seeking a Transportation Planner/Engineer to join our growing Transportation Planning and Engineering Practice in our Salt Lake City, Utah office.
AS A TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER
You are a Civil & Environmental Engineer or a Planning professional with a strong interest in transportation. You work closely with RSG’s transportation planning and engineering staff on a variety of project responsibilities for transportation corridor studies, scoping/feasibility studies, conceptual designs, traffic operations, transportation master plans, microsimulation modeling, safety analysis, and traffic impact studies. You perform technical and analytic work and write reports and technical memos as well as create visuals for reports and presentations.
As a member the Transportation Planning and Engineering practice, you have knowledge of fundamental transportation engineering concepts and references (e.g. Highway Capacity Manual, Trip Generation, Parking Generation, AASHTO Green Book, etc.). You are excited to apply innovative transportation planning approaches. You enjoy working in a team environment, and can communicate technical materials to technical and non-technical audiences. You work with others on the RSG team to produce accurate, thorough, and attractive technical results.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL
BA or BS in planning, engineering, or related field of study
Knowledge of fundamental transportation engineering concepts
Proficiency using ArcGIS
Ability to write clearly in a variety of communication formats and styles (e.g. email, technical documentation, progress updates, instructions, recommendations, reports and presentations)
Effective in a variety of presentation settings: one-to-one, small and large groups, with peers, supervisors and clients.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS ARE DESIRABLE
Engineer in Training/Engineer Intern (EIT/EI) certification and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
Master’s Degree in planning, engineering, or related field
1-3 years experience working on transportation planning and/or transportation engineering projects
Completion of introductory transportation engineering coursework such as geometric design on highways, traffic engineering, urban transportation planning, micro-simulation, travel demand modeling, safety, or site planning
Experience using traffic analysis and modeling packages such as Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, and Cube
Experience using CAD software packages including AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads
Demonstrated ability to work virtually with geographically dispersed teammates.
