We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Structural/Bridge Project Manager in our Falls Church, VA office.
Have primary responsibility to maintain budget and assure completion of projects within budget, including monitoring Scope of Work and develop Change Orders for each project.
Assist Project Engineer in performing review of all contract drawings and specifications for completeness, correctness and coordination, and to ensure quality control procedures are implemented and maintained.
Work with the firm’s QA group to ensure adequate QA/QC procedures were followed on project deliverables and remedy any project quality issues and prevent further occurrence.
Maintain proactive contact with client to keep them informed of overall progress, to resolve project questions, to facilitate changes, and to promote good relations. Obtain approvals and decisions from client in a timely manner that allows the project to flow smoothly and quickly and alert Virginia Operation Manager to any changes of scope, lack of information, or decisions from client that affect schedule or production costs. Provide all project deliverables to client on time, and keep a record of all submissions.
Approve billings to client, overtime, expense reports, etc. for each project. Including monitoring the spending of any sub-consultants.
Record scope changes, client initiated or otherwise, so that additional fees may be negotiated then discuss with Virginia Operation Manager to ensure he has confirmed changes. Subsequently, you will notify the client of changes in scope, and prepare estimates for additional design fees.
Keep assigned Supervisor informed of project progress and ensure terms of contract are followed.
Attend public meetings and /or hearings as necessary.
BS in Civil Engineering; VA PE License
Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in analysis and design on bridge projects in accordance with Federal and State codes
Minimum of 15 years of experience with VDOT design standards and current state of practice
Minimum 10 years of experience supervising staff and managing projects
Experience managing client relationships and pursuing projects in VA with VDOT and County DPWs
Excellent communications skills and the demonstrated ability to work well in cooperative, team environments.
Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
Proven ability to perform in a management capacity,
Must be knowledgeable of industry practices and regulations, as well as current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
